EFT/Burst generators are verified according to the standard IEC/EN 61000-4-4 Edition 2. Measurements of individual impulse parameters are performed using a termination to match the EFT/Burst generator output impedance (50W) and a voltage divider to reduce the impulse level so it can be displayed on commercial oscilloscopes. The 50W attenuator, PAT 50 is to match the new amendment 2 and edition 2 requirements. An oscilloscope with minimum 400MHz band-width is required to properly display the EFT impulse.
The PAT attenuator series has been developed in response to the IEC 61000-4-4 amendment 2 from 2001 which extends the verification requirement to also include impulse measurement using a 1kW load.
The PAT 1000 meets the amendment 2 and edition 2 requirements of 1000W in parallel with 6pF.
