Haefely PIM 130 1.2/50us Voltage Impulse Module

Description

Electric Strength and transient level tests are made to ensure the safety of operating personnel. Such tests can be performed with the PIM 130.

Safety of Information Technology Equipment is covered in standards IEC 60950 and UL 1950; both of them cover the same requirements. Typical EUTs include fax machines, copiers, computers, cash dispensing machines and telephones.
The IEC standard clearly defines a generator with 1uF charging capacitor as in the PIM 130. Connection for the various tests is directly from the generator to the EUT mains power, telecom and enclosure ports but without the EUT being powered or in an operational state.

Safety tests are also required by the standards IEC60065 and IEC 61010. These standards cope with audio and video apparatus as well as electrical equipment for measuring, control and laboratory use. The same impulse circuit is used as by the other safety standards.

The PSURGE 8000 Surge Platform can perform all the programming functions required to perform IEC, UL and ITU testing without the need of a control computer.

The integration in the WinFEAT&R control and reporting software package enhances an efficient set-up and operation of this test system. Most importantly, the test load can be transferred to a computer freeing valuable resources.
